Creating and formatting an article in HelpCenter.io is a simple, intuitive process. Here’s how you can do it:
1. Start by Creating a New Article: Navigate to the articles listing page on your dashboard. In the top left corner, you’ll find a button marked with a plus sign “+”. Click on it to create a new article.
2. Title Your Article: You’ll be directed to a new page where you can start crafting your article. Start by writing a title that accurately represents your article’s topic.
3. Write Your Article: Below the title, you’ll find a space for your article content. This is where you’ll use our dynamic inline editor. This tool offers a plethora of options to customize and enrich your content, but it’s designed to only display these options when needed.
4. Utilize the Content Editor: The content editor comes with two menus - an inline menu that appears when you select some text, providing various styling options or the ability to create a link, and a side menu that can be expanded whenever you need to change the current block type.
5. Insert New Blocks: When you place the text caret on a line in the editor, a “+” button will appear on the left side of the text block. Clicking on this will display different block types you can include in your article, such as:
• Headings (H2, H3, and H4)
• Ordered and unordered lists
• Blockquotes
• Task checkboxes
• Images
• Embedded videos (supports YouTube, Vimeo, and Loom)
• Code blocks
• Horizontal lines
• Callout blocks (info, success, warning, danger)
• File attachments
• Internal notes
• FAQ sections
• Tables
• Articles
The H1 heading is reserved for the article title, ensuring the correct semantic structure of your page.
6. Embed Rich Media: You can also embed other rich media. To do this, you’ll need the HTML/JavaScript code of the media you wish to display, not just the URL.
7. Save or Publish Your Article: If your article isn’t ready for publishing, you can save it as a draft by clicking “Save Draft”. This makes it visible only to you. Once you’re ready to share your article with the world, click “Publish” and your article will go live.
With this guide, creating and formatting your articles should be a breeze. Happy writing!
