What makes HelpCenter.io different?
HelpCenter.io focuses on one thing, the knowledge base your customers, your website and your AI tools all answer from, and charges a flat price per help center instead of per agent. There's no ticketing system or CRM to pay for.
Straightforward pricing: from $29/month per help center, billed yearly, with AI included on Catalyst and no per-answer fees.
Your design, no code needed: pick one of 16 themes in the template editor and make it yours, with custom CSS when you want it.
AI answers you can check: AI Answers writes only from your published articles and links to its sources.
Ready for AI: readers can add your public help center to their own AI assistant, and on Growth and Catalyst your team can connect Claude or ChatGPT to write and organize articles.
Help inside your product: the widget brings your articles into your website or app, and proactive messages invite visitors in when they need help.
Safer releases: staged changes and change sets let you prepare updates and publish them together (Catalyst, in early preview).
Many languages: Growth and Catalyst serve your help center in several languages, and Catalyst drafts translations with AI.
Accessible themes: keyboard navigation, screen reader landmarks and automatic color contrast are built in.
Free migration on Growth and Catalyst: we move your existing help center for you.
Try it free for 14 days, no credit card needed, or compare the plans in Plans and pricing.

Is HelpCenter.io right for my company?
Yes, if you want a branded help center that's quick to set up and easy to keep up to date, without paying for a full support suite. It works for teams of any size that answer customer questions with articles.
SaaS companies that want help inside their product: the widget, sign-in for customer-only docs (Catalyst) and an API. See HelpCenter.io for SaaS companies.
E-commerce and service businesses that answer the same questions every day, with FAQ sections on product and checkout pages.
Agencies that run help centers for clients: each one has its own design, domain and plan.
Internal knowledge bases: keep a help center private or password-protected for your team.
You may want something else if you need a ticketing system or shared inbox (HelpCenter.io connects to tools like Zendesk, Front and HubSpot instead), a general website builder, or multi-step content approval.
The quickest way to find out is to try it: start a 14-day free trial, no credit card needed. On Growth and Catalyst, we'll move your existing help center for free.

Do you back up my content?
Yes. We back up all your data several times a day, so if something goes wrong on our side, we can restore it.
You also have safety nets of your own:
Version history: every change your team saves in the editor is listed with who made it and when, and you can restore an earlier version. Changes made through the API or by an AI agent are listed too, under the name System. How far back you can go depends on your plan. Learn how to restore a version.
Trash: deleted articles go to Trash, where you can restore them. Only Owners and Admins can delete them permanently. See Delete and restore articles.
PDF export: export the articles you select, or your whole help center from Settings → Danger zone. See Export articles as PDF.
API export: with an API key,
GET /v1/exportreturns your categories and articles with their content, so you can keep your own copy. Articles in Trash and your team's notes aren't included. See Create an API key and Back up your help center on the developer portal.

Can I use my own domain?
Yes. On every plan you can serve your help center from your own domain, such as help.yourcompany.com, with a free SSL certificate.
In Settings → Custom domain, enter your domain and click Apply. Then add the CNAME record it shows at your DNS provider, pointing to your helpcenter.io address. Once the record checks out, we issue the certificate automatically, and your helpcenter.io address redirects to your domain.
Use a subdomain like help.yourcompany.com rather than yourcompany.com itself, because the setup relies on a CNAME record.
See Use your own domain for every step.

Does HelpCenter.io include AI?
Yes. Catalyst includes AI Answers, AI writing help and AI translation. On Bootstrap and Growth, you can add AI Answers and AI writing help with the AI add-on for $29/month ($24/month billed yearly).
AI Answers: readers ask a question in your search bar or the widget and get an answer written only from your published articles, with its sources.
AI writing help: rewrite, shorten or draft text, and draft meta descriptions and alt text. Nothing changes until you accept it.
AI translation (Catalyst): drafts a translation of an article for you to review and release.
On every plan: readers can add your public help center to their own AI assistant through its MCP server, and AI tools get clean, readable versions of your pages.
On Growth and Catalyst: connect Claude, ChatGPT and other AI agents to write, organize and analyze your help center.
There are no per-answer fees; fair-use limits apply. See AI features in HelpCenter.io.

Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial, and you don't need a credit card.
Sign up at helpcenter.io/app/signup, choose your subdomain, and your help center is ready. The trial includes the features of the plan you pick when you sign up, or of Growth if you don't pick one.
When you're ready, activate a plan in Billing & Invoices. Activating early doesn't cut your trial short. If you don't activate, your help center goes offline when the trial ends, but your content is kept.
