Create your account
Go to helpcenter.io/app/signup, or click Start free trial on our pricing page.
Under What is your name?, enter your full name.
Under What's your email?, enter your work email address.
Under Choose a password, enter a password of at least 6 characters. Type it again under Confirm your password.
Tick I agree to the terms of service and privacy policy. The box for news and offers from HelpCenter.io is optional.
Click Continue.
Choose your subdomain
Your subdomain is your help center's address, such as acme.helpcenter.io. Your company or product name is a good choice.
Type it under Your subdomain. A tick means it's free.
Click Ready? Let's Start!
A subdomain is 3 to 63 characters long and uses letters, numbers and dashes. Capital letters are saved as lowercase. Reserved words, such as app, help, support and www, and some protected brand names aren't available.
You can change your subdomain later, but links to the old address stop working, so it pays to choose carefully. See Change your help center's address. You can also serve your help center from your own domain, such as help.yourcompany.com: see Use your own domain.
What you get
A help center named after your subdomain. To rename it, change Site name under Brand in the template editor, then publish.
A first category and article. A General category with a draft article named after your help center, such as "What is Acme?". Edit them or delete them.
A ready-made design that you can change in the template editor.
Privacy while you build. New help centers are Private: only you and the people you invite can see yours. Make it public when you're ready.

Verify your email
We send you an email to confirm your address. Open it and click Verify Email Address. The link works for 60 minutes.
You need a verified email to make your help center public and to activate your subscription. If the email doesn't arrive, check your spam folder. To get a new link, click your avatar at the bottom of the dashboard's left menu, then Account Settings, and click Resend under your email address.
Joining a teammate's help center?
If someone invited you, use the link in your invitation email instead of signing up here. You create your account without choosing a subdomain and go straight to their help center.
Troubleshooting
"The email has already been taken." You already have an account with that address. Sign in instead, or reset your password from the sign-in page.
"The password field must be at least 6 characters." or "The password field confirmation does not match." Use at least 6 characters, and type exactly the same password in both fields.
"The subdomain has already been taken." or "The subdomain you have chosen is a reserved word. Please choose another one." Try another address, for example your company name with your product name added.
"Subdomain must contain only letters, numbers, and dash (-)." Remove spaces, dots and other symbols.
"This subdomain contains a protected brand name." Subdomains that contain certain well-known brand names are blocked. Choose one based on your own company's name.
"The captcha verification failed. Please try again." or "The captcha has expired. Please refresh and try again." Reload the page and sign up again.
