Click Template editor in the left menu and look at what opens. HelpCenter.io has two template editors, and each help center uses one of them: the classic template editor or the new template editor.
What you see | Classic template editor | New template editor |
|---|---|---|
The settings | A panel headed Customization, with General, Header, Homepage, Style and more | The tabs Brand, Theme, Theme gallery, Pages, Navigation, Advanced and Version history |
Top left | Version: followed by a short code | Exit and your help center's name |
Near the top | A dark bar that says the new Template Editor is ready, with Try the new editor | Nothing extra, unless you're trying it out |
New help centers start on the new template editor. Older help centers use the classic one until an owner or admin moves them. You may also hear them called v1 and v2.
Which articles to read
The classic editor has its own articles, starting with Get started with the classic template editor, together with the articles about moving to the new one. Every other article about design, such as Get started with the template editor, describes the new template editor.
Should I move?
The new template editor adds 17 ready-made themes, a layout you can change on every page, dark mode, a preview on phones and tablets, and a restore point for every design you publish. AI assistants and integrations with design access can work on your design only there. You can try it on a copy of your current design without changing what visitors see. See Move your help center to the new template editor.
